@AptChat Let’s talk about Yelp! Is paying for ads on their platform the best way to get extra SEO benefits? #aptchat
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
Hi Gerry! @RedOakGerry @AptChat Totally *not* necessary to pay!
— Holli Beckman (@Apartmentalist) October 4, 2016
@Apartmentalist @AptChat I have 39 reviews that Yelp will not put into the recommended category on my account. Why is that?
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry Were they all published in a short time frame or all super positive? Sometimes Yelp will decide something looks fake #AptChat
— Holli Beckman (@Apartmentalist) October 4, 2016
@Apartmentalist This has been going on for 6+ years. Only 2 reviews were published out of 45.
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry A quick scan shows most of the reviewers only have 1 possibly 2 reviews & zero ‘friends’…not really deemed reliable #aptchat
— Holli Beckman (@Apartmentalist) October 4, 2016
@Apartmentalist Yes, but they are still there. If someone finds that page we look aweful. Our Apt Ratings are all good however.
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry I’m talking about the not recommended ones! The 2 published have lots of reviews and/or friends. #aptchat
— Holli Beckman (@Apartmentalist) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry So you need some Yelp Elite to review your business! #aptchat
— Holli Beckman (@Apartmentalist) October 4, 2016
@Apartmentalist DO you know how I could go about that?
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry yes.But its a better move to just run a PR email campaign at your properties.Especially if you have positive AptRating #aptchat
— Holli Beckman (@Apartmentalist) October 4, 2016
@Apartmentalist @RedOakGerry Agreed! Get those reviews front & center to the prospects, right in their inbox! #AptChat
— Kristi Fickert (@Marketing_Mommy) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry Although there is something to be said for genuine authentic reviews (no matter the review site). Those never hurt. 🙂 #AptChat
— Kristi Fickert (@Marketing_Mommy) October 4, 2016
@Marketing_Mommy These are all legitimate reviews. We have a lot on Apartment ratings too. #aptchat @AptChat
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry @AptChat That’s great! Can you repurpose some of that content & use in the blog & other forums to help w/SEO? #AptChat
— Kristi Fickert (@Marketing_Mommy) October 4, 2016
@Marketing_Mommy @AptChat Trust me we are doing that!
— Gerry Red Oak (@RedOakGerry) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry Did you encourage residents to leave reviews on Yelp? Wondering if your campaign should encourage other review forums #AptChat
— Kristi Fickert (@Marketing_Mommy) October 4, 2016
@Marketing_Mommy @RedOakGerry I’d love to see effects of 2 similar props, 1 pointing to Yelp, 1 to AR,& how the #s on SEO come out #aptchat
— Heather Blume (@artchickhb) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry There are many things that can help (or hurt) SEO. Are you deploying any other SEO strategies before turning to Yelp? #AptChat
— Apartment Chat (@AptChat) October 4, 2016
@RedOakGerry @AptChat If you’re talking about benefits from search traffic, we’d recommend #PPC instead. #Aptchat

On-site marketing training: how often, how in-depth, in person/online/webinar?
@AptChat I’m a big fan of in person once every six to nine months or so. Webinars are great, but not as motivating I think. #aptchat
— Heather Blume (@artchickhb) October 4, 2016
@artchickhb @AptChat I like morning motivators 1x/week – just 20-30 min sprints on specific topics or sales/mktg items to focus on #AptChat
— Kristi Fickert (@Marketing_Mommy) October 4, 2016
@Marketing_Mommy @AptChat monthly marketing topics should be addressed – you don’t market in July the same way you do in January. #aptchat
— Heather Blume (@artchickhb) October 4, 2016
@artchickhb Yes! Sometimes on-site folks are left out of the strategy of mktg. Knowledge is power. Gotta connect the dots for them #AptChat
— Kristi Fickert (@Marketing_Mommy) October 4, 2016
@AptChat but w/ training, I’m super biased to in person. Webinars can work-I just like in person better as an instructor & student #aptchat
— Heather Blume (@artchickhb) October 4, 2016
@artchickhb @AptChat 1,000% agree – there’s a connection there & I think they are more likely to implement when trained in person #AptChat
